Up until a couple of months ago, business at Steve’s Meat Market in sleepy De Soto hadn’t changed all that much since it opened in 1969. “I’d been hearing about Facebook and phone apps and thought we should look at it, but I don’t use any of that stuff,” says Steve Prudden, the oldest of the three Steve Pruddens who run the family business. He calls himself “the old hippie in the corner.”
Prudden’s son Steve, who goes by Mitch, and Mitch’s son Steve, who goes by Steven, are much more tech-savvy and hired a friend at Squawk Box Marketing in Eudora to help design the app. It allows customers to place meat orders, call up recipes and display monthly specials.
The app, which works for iPhone, Android and BlackBerry phones, can be downloaded by scanning a QR code on the stevesmeatmarketks.com
